Hello Team,

I am building a PC for the first time and I wanted your opinion and suggestions for the build.

I am from Bangalore, India and I have to say that the prices in India are way expensive. (For the Bangalore users, the prices mentioned are averaged from SP Road)

----------------------------------------------------------

Component
Component Name
Average price INR Average Price USD
CPU Intel Pentium G4560                        4,500.00                            67.50
Cooler Stock                                     -                                     -
Motherboard H110                        4,200.00                            63.00
Memory 8 GB DDR4 2133                        3,800.00                            57.00
SSD 120 GB SSD                        3,700.00                            55.50
HDD Storage 2 TB 7200                        4,800.00                            72.00
Video Card Zotac GTX 1060 3 GB Mini                     15,500.00                          232.50
Case Corsair Air 240                        7,800.00                          117.00
Power Supply 450 W                        2,400.00                            36.00
Monitor Dell S2216 IPS                        8,300.00                          124.50
RGB :) Generic                        1,000.00                            15.00
  Total 56,000.00 840.00

---------------------------------------------------------

My intention is to use for Gaming (not hardcore but stuff like Tomb raider, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Action adventure stuff) and photo editing. Not sure if this build can be used for video editing (like making some basic videos on youtube). I will be using some basic editing software.

Also, recommend a Basic but good backlit keyboard. Prefer to have a non-mechanical keyboard.

Thanks,

Sid

make sure the psu model isnt terrible. a bad psu can harm other components in the build as well as just breaking and having to be replaced. also make sure you have a way to update the bios on that h110 motherboard as it wont post with that cpu unless it has an updated bios. if ti comes with an updated bios that would be great but that isnt the case alot of the times.

Not understanding why you're getting such an expensive case... and I bet that's a Corsair VS450 which isn't that good of a power supply.

Get the GTX 1060 6GB. More VRAM is always good... especially for texture heavy titles.

Mostly I will be using a Corsair vs450 psu

I believe post dec-2016 the manufacturers are selling with the updated bios supporting kaby lake processor. (I am not positive of this point but heard from a YouTube video, can't remember which)

Yes but I believe that is the manufacturer not the retailers. This means if you buy a h110 motherboard that was purchased by the retailer from the manufacturer prior to then, you will end up with a motherboard with older bios. I would double check that it had updated bios before purchasing. I would say the corsair vs series isn't the greatest psu and I wouldn't recommend it but I'm unsure what the availability is like for better quality psus in your area.

The Case I loved it. It looks perfect to me. Plus I live in a small house, so size is a factor. Hence I liked the dual chamber design, small size compared to mid tower.

Coming on to the PSU, I am getting the info that Corsair VS450 isn't a good one, Any alternates for that price point?

I would greatly appreciate if you can help me out by checking this link from Amazon India (here) as that can give you a good idea what prices, brands we deal with. (price conversion is like 6500 INR = 100 USD).

Thank you for your time and support.

Cheers from India!

Sid

Is the wattage enough? and any good PSU you recommend instead of VS450?

Thanks and Cheers from India,

yeah the wattage is plenty. i would recommend a corsair cx450m with the grey label not the green. i would also recommend a seasonic s12ii 430 watt or larger. i would also recommend any psu that is tier 3 or above on this list. also i would pick anything that is a higher tier than the vs series as it is tier 6 which is not good.

But is it worth sacrificing performance on? IMO, not really...

You're spending only $35 on a power supply and as far as I'm aware, you're not getting anything good. If you want a proper one, you need to change your budget. At the very minimum, get the Seasonic S12II 520.

I didn't understand on the perfomance point with regards to the case, Can you please explain a bit more so that i understand better :)

Seasonic I am not positive if this is there in the local market. Will look for it but I may need a fallback in case I don't get it.

What you reckon for these PSU?

1. Cooler Master B500

2. Cooler Master Masterwatt lite 500

3. Antec VP450P

4. REO True Power 500 watt 80 Plus Bronze

5. Deepcool Aurora DA500+ 80 Plus Bronze

Thanks

10

CX450M ( grey label) is around 250 USD equivalent over here :( With that price I can get a GTX 1060 6GB :P

If a PSU has an 80 plus bronze rating is it good or not good?

Thanks,

Sid

well that is what i feared as far as pricing is concerned. 80 plus bronze only indicates it efficiency and doesn't tell anything about its voltage regulation. if a psu has bad voltage regulation it can be hard on the VRMs of the different components in your computer and lead to them breaking. i would try and find a psu that is in one of the higher tiers based on that tier list but that is not as expensive as the corsair model. have you looked at the price of some seasonic power supplies?

Simply put, you're sacrificing performance by prioritising a large portion of your budget towards your case. If you were, say, get a cheaper case, you can put the money elsewhere into something better... like a better power supply.

None of them are particularly good... as I said before, you should look at cheaper case options and prioritise buying a better power supply. A bad power supply can potentially take out other components of your build, such as the motherboard and GPU.

At the very minimum, get the Corsair CX500 if you can't get the Seasonic S12II 520.

Well a bit more digging I found seasonic model you mentioned. But that's online..And the price is similar to the Corsair model you mentioned. I have to check at brick and mortar store to if seasonic is there else I will fall back to cx500

Coming on the case, I know it is bit pricey but since this is my first build I wanted to get that case.. might save some more money but that case is definately in my list.

What about the Monitor the dell model.. will it be good for lightroom / Photoshop editing. And does calibration of monitor worth it?

Thanks,

Sid

Will it help if I have ups as well, since my area has power cuts so i have that as well in my mind. Will ups aid in voltage regulation? Or should I add an external stabilizer?

Thanks,

Sid

well a ups would help with power outages but I'm unsure if they would do anything for ripple suppression.

It's a generic Dell IPS monitor from the looks of it... but I reckon it'll be fine.

There is a company called v guard here in India which specialises in stabilizer.

Below is the link mentioning about their product function . Give a read let me know if this is the kind of feature you are advising me to look for in a PSU

You might have to fiddle around with the colour settings but yes, it should be fine.
