G-Sync problems

muzza246

Hi

I bought an acer predator XB321HK mostly because of the gsync but despite the nvidia control panel saying its on, i still experience tears in games such as siegfe, battlefront and fallout 4. Is there anything i could have missed in settings ? i understand theres a minimum frame rate but im not running lower than 55 fps. Any help would be majorly appreciated because i dont wanna have to go through customer "support".

Thanks

You must have less FPS than is your monitor maximum refresh rate, every time your FPS goes above your monitor Hz, then G-Sync will turn off.

Cap your FPS with RivaTuner (2-3FPS below your maximum refresh rate).

OK ill give that a go, thank you

The other option is to enable Fast-Sync in NVIDIA Control Panel if you don't want to cap your FPS. This removes tearing ONLY if you have more FPS than is your maximum monitor Hz. However, at the cost of increased input lag.... not nearly as bad as with V-Sync though.

Funny thing is, back when I started gaming, I played CS GO for quite a while with V sync enabled just cause I was a skrub and didnt know what it was, so I didn't mess with it. I did actually pretty well, and it was only when I was around Gold Nova level I found out that V sync is actually kinda terrible. So unless he's a super pro esports gamer, if the input lag is better than with V sync, it'll probably be fine

One last question sorry, the monitor natively sits at 4k 60hz, if I run it at say 1440p at 144hz will gsync work all the way up till 144hz or only 60hz still?

no, it's a 60hz monitor that you have.

if you go above 60hz you will get tearing and the monitor still only refresh 60 times per second.

if you wanted 1440p 144hz you should have bought a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor.

Also, there is no minimum FPS for Gsync...it work from 1FPS all the way up to the max refresh rate of your monitor.

if you run at 10FPS it will do frame doubling, it will ''replay'' frames and produce 10FPS experience with no tearing...
