Hey guys (and girls),

this is my first post so please be gentle.

I plan on upgrading (or rebuilding since my i7-4770k uses a LG5500 slot and hence DDR3 memory) my build.

A few weeks ago my old GPU died after being in use for almost 5 years so I bought a new GTX 1080 (yes I know it wont get it's full potential with my current build. Just didnt want to buy 2 GPUs).

My budget for new parts is about 1.000-1.500Euro (vague range ik. going above 1.200 would simply mean waiting another month).

I plan on using this rig for mostly gaming (and some programming. but no video editing) and would like to get some good fps with high settings.

I'm currently running 3 monitors with maybe adding a 4th later - maybe adding another GPU for SLI later on.

I know chances are high there won't really be anything reusable besides the GPU.

- EVGA GTX 1080 SC

- Intel i7-4770k (with stock cooling - don't judge me >.< - I'll need proper cooling for the new build)

- GigaByte GA-Z87X

- 2x Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM (don't know the exact model)

I will need a new case (I don't care for optics inside the case so I don't need some fancy stuff there)

I don't know which power supply is built into my Computer but it's been reused since my first proper PC (2010?). So I should probably get a new one.

These are my current storage drives (The SSD needs to be replaced soon)

- Samsung SSD 840 (250GB)

- WD1002FAEX (1TB)

- WD2003FZEX (2TB)

While I built my old computer myself I don't really feel comfortable to chose all parts without consulting some more experienced people.

What would you recommend I get? Again the budget is vague so even if it goes somewhat over 1.500 it's still okay. It's jsut a guideline-ish.

Thank you.

PS: I want to get into all this stuff more actively so please explain why you recommend what part.

Honestly, why are you upgrading? You could go Skylake or maybe even Kaby Lake. But honestly your rig should run anything you want to run.

If you have your heart set on upgrading, Ryzen is not a bad idea. Get a 1700x or even an 1800x with an Asus Crosshair VI Hero, and get some new ram (Any brand is fine really, with that firepower you should probably have at least 16gb.

As far as the SSD goes, I have a Samsung 850 evo and could not be happier. Mine is 1tb, but you can get less.

I'm usually modding my games a lot and due to the nature of certain mods they use my CPU and RAM quite a lot which usually results results in the CPU not keeping up (havent really gone into CPU overclicking since it's the stock cooler I use)

Well in that case I'd go with Ryzen. 1700x or 1800x at your price range, with a Crosshair VI Hero.

You can upgrade the platform if you want, although it'd obviously be more expensive.
