I am new here, but I would love to see any setups for a childs first computer. My 3 year old daughter watched me build my computer and wanted to build one too. I would love suggestions or pics etc. I grew up with games like Oregon Trail. Any suggestions for games, peripherals, hardware, lockdown stuff will be helpful!

You can get a cheap computer (but made within the past 10 years preferably) and run something like Ubuntu on it for free and she'll be able to do a lot of things with it.

By the way, you can play Oregon Trail for free on archive.org.

find something like a core 2 duo or quad for her. Nice and budget friendly option and is a great starter platform

Honestly, if it is the first computer of a 3 year old, I would just plainly get a Chromebook or Atom/Celeron/M3 powered laptop. Chromebook especially would be very helpful in blocking inappropriate contents as it is often used in schools.

jays two cents did a video about this, it was a rasberry pie kit made for kids.

this also allows you to add stuff like lights, cameras, and so on later on.
