So I have this old Vizio TV and I can't seem to get it scaled right. It's native resolution is 1280x720 and despite changing anything it never fits the screen. It's like everything I do makes it too big. And not only that but it causes major lag on my PC when not in 1920x1080.

The TV has no options to change the size of the picture and I haven't been able to figure out anything through the Nivdia control panel.

sounds like a driver issue, what's is your computer spec?

have you tried resetting your tv?

It might just be because it's an older TV.

But I have a GTX 970 with a 4790k.

My main problem is that the picture runs off the screen which I can't see certain HUD elements in games. I also tested it in rocket league and it only runs at 30hz in 1920x1080, but if I put it in 1280x720 it runs in 60 but lags.

Make sure the native resolution of your TV isn't actually 1366x768, a standard resolution very often used on "HD Ready" TV's

Also go in your video card's settings and play with Overscan/Underscan settings - the exact location varies and I only know on AMD cards where it is.

Go in the TVs settings as well and disable post processing or overscan/underscan/scaling ... if there's settings like Color range : PC/TV  or Full/Limited etc set it on PC  / Full

There is no TV settings like that, all it pretty much has is like brightness and contrast.

Overscan seems to work a bit better, but I'm going to check the resolution real quick.
