So I am deciding to build my first PC and was wondering if i were going to buy a stick of Kingston HyperFuryX in both 8 and 4 gb because that is all I can afford, would that work or should i cheap out somehwere else and get 16 gb. This pc would be for gaming at 1080p light VR since my cousin sold me his vive for $500, and minor work in excel, word, and adobe premier

It is a very worthwhile thing to do for planning. You can spec out your build and follow up with any incompatibilities when finalizing.

PCPP will also tell if something may be incompatible, but you will have to double-check to make sure they are correct.

The only thing I wouldn't pay attention to as much is the wattage calculation.

I would consider getting an SSD to start with; A-Data SU800 or Crucial MX300 are good choices. If you need a mouse, I'd get a Logitech G402 or G502.
