What cooler is the paste going with? Some companies have great stock paste (Prolimatech, Noctua, Cryorig, Phanteks, some others) and may actually be better than whatever you replace it with. 

 

Otherwise, I'd recommend NT-H1 (easy to apply, good thermal results) or PK-3 (more difficult to apply, better thermals). For anything better, go liquid metal.
