I recently picked up the pg278qr for 1440p and just went back to my vg248qe a few days later. Even after altering every possible setting/calibration/profile/digital vibrancy, the colors on the 24 seem to be sooo much deeper/sharper, they just pop out a lot more. And that 24" is a few years old compared to what is probably the best TN panel on the market currently.

I'm curious, is that due to the larger size? I don't see what else it could be. I'm pretty sure my pg278qr panel is fine, colors are accurate, just don't pop like my vg248qe. If size is the reason, I may return it and get the pg258q.

And yes I know the pg279q has better colors with the IPS panel, but I'm interested in TN panels for fps gaming.

anyone have any experience or could help explain ? Thanks

unless you are a pro, IPS would be better for all use cases. even the best TN panels will be noticeable from an IPS in general computing task or media consumption.

Going along with this, I play competitive shooter games like CS, and RSS with no problems on my 5ms delay IPS 27" panel.

Unless you're already getting paid I don't see the point in ultra response time monitors.

CRT monitors might be cheap on eBay or in your attic if you really want something fast with good color. :P

I do not know why your new premium TN panel would have less pop than the old TN panel you're using. I'm currently using a 24" benq and am looking to upgrade as well, deciding between a 24" and a 27" like you.

I just want to know if the 3 that replied even read the post?  His 24"(vg248qe) is a TN panel, his 27"(pg278qr) is a TN panel. He asked what might cause the variance in color between the two TN panels. He did not ask which panel type would you suggest, he even stated clearly that he was not interested in IPS panel monitors.
