My friend has MSI Z77 MPOWER motherboard, i7 3770 (non k) & he just got these RAMs: Kingston HyperX Beast 8 GB Kit (2x4 GB) 2400MHz, but problem is, he can't make them work on 2400mhz. They work only on 2133mhz. Any thoughts what is the problem? Why they don't work on that speed?

He need to raise the voltage to 1.65v

Also, why does he have a non-K i7 on a Z77 board?

enter all the settings manually: clock, latencies, command rate, voltage

helped building up the CPU Overclocking Database and GPU Overclocking Database, check them out ;)

Could you explain exactly which settings to use? like what timings & voltages?

When he sets profile 1. timings & voltage sets automatically & speed sets to 2400mhz, but after this PC keeps restarting continuously.

That means that the setting aren't going to work so he need to increase the voltage further, maybe 11-12-12-31 at 1.675v

Ask him to set an XMP profile as Kingston usually advertizes their speed in XMP. The manual should say how to set up XMP. Refer to 2-13.

If there's a sticker on the side of the RAM, it should have all of the tested latencies, timings, voltage and frequency (my Corsair ones do) so I can take a picture of them and manually dial in all of the necessary stuff, though the X.M.P profile should fix all of that up for you.

Is XMP enabled?

Possibly, though chances are it's the motherboard/BIOS settings.

one more question: Now he has such settings: 2133mhz, 11-12-12-31 at 1.675v & if he leaves those settings, will it be okay?

No, no. This ram is clearly crap. Look at this one person who is having trouble out of the 1000's of people who use this ram with no problems.

Finally my Santa hat doesn't look out of place
