do you want a closed or open back headphones? and what games/music do u listen to? and will u use an external dac/amp without a mic port?

1. Closed back, preferably.

2. Music - Electro Swing. Games - For Honor, Overwatch, RS:6, Payday 2, and Civilization 5.

3. I may use one, dependent on what money I have left over.

A pair of sennhieser's gaming headset range isn't a bad choice...

Good mics, decent sound while not being too badly priced :P

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Any particular ones you recommend?

I've looked at them and am torn up by the GSP 300 and GSP 350.

For a mic, i would recommend the vmoda boom mic pro (i have it and its great and very convenient, unlike the mod mic. it is one cable for the headphone and mic.) and the mod mic (what ever version u can get)

i personally would not recommend any gaming headset. a seperate headphone and mic is much better for price to performance and the build quality is usually much better. btw there is no such thing as true virtual surround sound (it is simply a software)

Do you have any other options? I looked at reviews for these and judged them myself and I kind of want a wider scope of headsets. Sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks for the responses.

By wider scope, I mean a broader price range, and, just as a random question, what is the difference in soundstage between closed and open backed headphones?

open back usually has a larger soundstage, not to mention the benefits of a velour ear pad when it comes to soundstage. closed has a smaller one (leather pads keep sound in and bass, but loose soundstage. its not really recommended to put velour on a closed back or vice versa. either way open back has a larger soundstage while closed has a nicer bass  etc

Not when their name is Sennhieser as with their game one/zero (for example), you're basically getting a HD598 with a really good boom mic slapped onto it while still having the signiture sennhieser build quality (which is pretty good) :P

You can have headsets with multiple speakers for each channel, each ear but they're probably worse than virtual surround sound. Also it's called real/true surround sound and virtual/software surround sound, true virtual doesn't really mean anything other than it is virtual xD

gameone/zero a ok option, but if he can get the headphone+mic seperate, hell be getting a better value etc.

and only a few headsets have true 7.1SS but its expensive and terrible.

Well, considering what you said, and how you have praised your open backed headphones, are there any open back headphones that are worth having a look at?

keep in mind open back headphones leak some noise (can be annoying if ur listening next to someone) and are not noise cancelling. SHP9500 is the best bang for the buck imo.
