the 4 core ryzens are trash. ryzen is designed in a weird way... the more cores that are enabled, the faster the cache works and the faster the core communication is. this is why the lowest core count youd want on a ryzen chip is 6

No.... Ryzen has 2 quad core CCXs, which are connected by the infinity fabric. The infinity fabric runs at half the speed of the memory, so faster RAM is what helps, not higher core count.

Again, no. The 1500X is better than the i5-7500 and it costs the same.....

Im not talking about RAM, im talking about cache. Very different. And compared to the 4 core intel cpus, the 4 cores are kinda bad. The six cores have a much, much better value.

I know, but RAM speed affects the infinity fabric, not core count.

No its about ryzen being hooked up to its cache in a different way. The more cores enabled, the faster the cache can communicate. Also, sometihng different, theres no way a 1500x is better than a 7500. 7500s have a much higher ipc, which is better for pretty much all games. And if you have a decent motherboard, your 7500 becomes a 7600k if you know how to bclk overclock.

saying that you can get a 1500x to 4ghz is like saying you can get a 6600k to 4.9. possible, but youre going to have to get lucky.
and as for z170 motherboards being expensive, not really lol. you can find decent ones for as low as 130 if theyre on sale, which happens a lot. am4 motherboards are often the same price due to their early release

What it says is: Because the 1500X/1400 have 2 cores enabled in each CCX, cores that are in different CCXs will have to communicate more frequently, which could lead to performance issues. I think that you misunderstood what Linus said...

30-50 dollars extra isnt that much for a z170 mb that get a 7500 up to 4.5ghz. a 7500 4.5ghz will almost always beat a 1500x clocked at 4ghz because of its higher ipc and single core performance. ryzen is good, but for games it is not optimal.

You need VERY specific motherboards with a specific BIOS version. BTW, Kabylake CPUs are not overclockable with the baseclock method, so you need a Skylake one.
