I keep finding myself considering using Linux as the OS of the PC I'm building. I am planning on trying to do some content creation, like video editing, streaming, animation, audio recording, gaming, and streaming. I'd love to get some sugestions on which distro to use, or if I'm better off sticking to Windows(NO I will NOT use crApple's OSx). A couple that have caught my eye are Sparky Linux GameOver Edition, and Unbuntu GamePack.

I use Ubuntu sometime but didn't feel nice as the lack of video editing program that are truly good.

Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas are not officially available on Linux. So you'd have to look at alternatives

For audio recording/editing you would be fine, Audacity works really good

Steam is available on Linux so that would be temporary taken care of

I did check what UbuntuGamePack is and tbh, it seems like regular Ubuntu with Wine and Steam installed that you can do it on norrmal Ubuntu/any other distro.

Note that Wine only allow some exe programs and games to run which you can check here https://appdb.winehq.org/

Streaming wise, OBS is also available for Linux https://obsproject.com/download

For those things you really need windows. Do what I did though, make a dual-boot! Games on windows, everything else on Linux. It really is the way to go, and if you are building this PC, its really easy to do when you start. Just install windows first, then install Linux and install alongside windows.

When I boot my PC I get asked, windows or linux. And if im on one, with my SSD im a 10 second reboot away from the other OS.

Would you suggest having a second boot drive for Linux?

FWIW, Steam officially supports Ubuntu, which is also a good distro for beginners.

Not necessary, but I do recommend using a separate NTFS partition or your Windows partition for your personal files if you plan to use Windows sometimes. That will allow you to access the same files from both operating sytems. Windows normally can't read EXT4 partitions, which is what is usually used for Linux, but Linux can read NTFS and EXT4.

For video editing, Kdenlive (free & open source) and DaVinci Resolve (free for hobbyists) are going to be your best options. For animation, you have Blender. For audio, you have Audacity like DeXxterlab97 already mentioned, but if you need something more, there's Ardour (free to compile/free from your distro's repository & open source), Bitwig Studio ($400) and Renoise ($75).
