Hey guys,

I would like to know if the following components are compatible with each other:

1. Intel i7-7700K

2.  MSI Z270 gaming M3 socket LGA 1151

3. Corsair H100i v2

4. Nvidia Gtx 1080 ti with future SLI expansion

5. Corsair RM 750X

6. 2 TB HDD

7. Samsung EVO 250GB SSD

8. BLU-RAY Reader/Burner

9. Gskill Ripjaws V Series 4X8GB

I'm looking for a system that can be overclocked officially with 4k gaming capability.

Yes it works, i assume that is DDR4 ram? If so it works, looks like a solid build, the 32GB Ram is overkill (16GB is enough for gaming) but that is dependent on your tasks and budget. You may need more storage but other wise a good solid overall build.

EDIT: Go for a aftermarket cooler for that 1080Ti for better thermals and overclocking potential.

Well yes and no. I'd always go for an aftermarket cooler as well, personally I especially like the ASUS Strix version, but that really only comes down to personal preference. And 32GB are defernetely overkill, but so is the rest of this rig. Calling it solid is a - excuse the bad joke - solid understatement.

As for storage: 2.25 TB should be more than enough depending on what you plan to do with it, I have 500GB and I'm not even filling that up.

Edited by myselfolli
It's Terrabites dummy

He has a 250GB SSD stand alone with nothing all is the only thing :/

Yeah, maybe grabbing a 500GB SSD for the OS and games would be worth it. Still tho, great build overall, have fun!

Well I'm gonna use it for gaming and for architecture related works like CAD and 3d modeling so I'll need lots of space to save my data. 2.5 gigs is just the beginning I may expand to more in the future.

And BTW which of the cases is preferred?

NZXT S340 Elite

Corsair Air 540 or 740

These two are the only brands I'm familiar with so I'm open to suggestions.  But if one of these two do the trick, I'm good.

Will the above cases be enough if I were to upgrade from the Founder's 1080 ti to an aftermarket one?

And do I have the SLI option if I were to choose an aftermarket gpu?

if you are planning on such work loads, go CPU; AMD Ryzen R7 1700, Motherboard; X370, S340 (personal preference tho).

How different is ryzen 1700 from Intel's 7700k in terms of performance for both work and gaming?

I have thought about ryzen as an option but I wasn't sure since the beginning of my research, I've always gone with Intel since ryzen was not a hype then and now I'm having second thoughts choosing between the two.

It was 7700k vs. Ryzen R7 1800x

Only thing I say is get 2x16gb instead of 4x8gb for better upgradibility in the future (I have no idea why no one ever mentions it).

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
