Why save up for a whole gaming machine ? good option could be save up for a 1050ti or 460 and put that in, While the i3 isnt ideal for gaming it isn't garbage. Hell I've seen a C2duo with a good card hold up surprisingly well.

than when budget allows do the CPu+Mb+Ram upgrade.

Redstone:
i7-4770 / Z97 / GTX 980 / Corsair 16GB  / H90 / 400C / Antec EDGE / Neutron GTX240 / Intel 240Gb / WD 2TB / BenQ XL24

Obsidian:

MSI GE60 2PE i7-4700HQ / 860M / 12GB / WE 1TB / m.Sata 256gb/Elagto USB HD Capture Card

Razer Deathadder Chroma / Razer Blackwidow TE Chroma / Kingston Cloud2's / Sennheiser 429 / Logitech Z333

Battlefield 3 system requirements:

Quote

OS: Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit.

  • Processor: 2GHZ Dual Core (Core 2 Duo 2.4GHZ or Athlon x2 2.7GHZ)
  • Memory: 2GB RAM.

Not wrong.

hahah thanks, Yeah its actually crazy, We did my Redstone system, ran games and got average FPS, than put my GPU and SSD into a Core2Quad system with fresh install and did it as well and yes the modern CPU kicked the daylights out of it in benchmarks, for us playing the games the C2Q did really really well considering its age.

If OP finds a i5 or even a i7-3770 he's going to be set for a while to come. Combo that with the savings of not shelling out for a whole new system and does PSU and a 1060/1070 or Vega throw in a SSD and you have a very very capable gaming system without again having to completely buy a new everything.

we did Dota / CS:GO / Boarderlands / ARK / GTA V.  The first two were as I was giving the c2Q to Girlfriends Brother and those were what he was going to play and what most people play. the rest for the lols. and again they were very playable after a bit of settings tweaks. and yeah the GPU was prob bottlenecked through the roof it didn't show in a way that ruined our gaming experience.

The C2Q used in one of the scrapyard wars went pretty well too.

Even GHG got a lot of performance out of it.
