Boxes on idle forum tab

Whenever I leave the ltt forums open in a separate tab open for more than 5 min, these boxes appear in front of the tab name. Anyone know why this happens?

It means that the tab has stopped polling for new notifications (it's a pause icon). If you're getting it after only a few minutes, that means there's probably something wrong with your Internet connection, because it is supposed to only stop polling naturally after several hours.
