Hi there!

When summer comes, i am planning on building a new computer as the old one can barely run minesweeper at 10fps. I do a lot of video and image editing(hense the 4tb HDD) and a lot of gaming as well. This is the setup i have made so far, but there are a lot of issues with it. 1: I have not checked compatibility yet. 2: It is a bit too expensive, i would like it to be more in the 2100-2200 dollars range, so what else can i buy that is a bit cheaper which won't bottleneck the rest?

If you know anything more about computers than me(Which means, you don't need to know a lot) then i would really appreciate if you could give me a hand.

PS: if you see anything more that is wrong then please comment that as well

Thank you (:

First of all: What currency is this? Those prices seem a bit too high. Second: Have you considered Ryzen over Kaby Lake? I would imagine you, being a video editor and all, would benefit from the higher core/thread count.

What programs do you use for video editing? Also 7700k definitely is not worth it.

I'd probably either get Ryzen or a 6800k, depending on what programs specifically you use.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

4TB NAS storage on something that's not a NAS runs a high risk of you losing all your data, you'd be better off with 2x 2TB normal storage imo.

I would strongly disagree. NAS drives are being marketed as such because they are designed to work 24/7 and being hit with read and write operations at any moment in time. They don't have higher failure rates than any other HD just because they're designed for NAS use. You are correct in saying that a RAID 1 setup lowers the risk of data loss but I personally have never had a dead hard drive in my life so I don't think slicing your storage capacity in half is worth it just so you can run RAID.

I'm just speaking from personal experience, I didn't mean RAID but just 2x 2TB in normal mode. I move house around a lot so the PC goes through transport at least once a year, hence my preference for more redundancy.

Understandable.

This can only be achieved with RAID though.

I use Adobe premiere for light editing and i also do some heavy stuff in cinema 4D and after effects.

Also, I am from Norway (:

It's all in american dollars, but everything is a bit more expensive here in Norway.
