So I have my Ryzen CPU clocked to 3.9 Ghz at 1.4 volts and it's stable (although I can only do 1-2 cinebench test runs in a row before it crashes) and was just curious if these reports here are fine. (Note My CPU Vcore once jumped to 2.1v out of nowhere and stayed there any ideas opn what that was?)

If you can only do Cinebench once or twice, lower the clock.

Not sure, I've heard of reporting issues with voltage on Ryzen but not 100% certain on them.

It's never BSOD on me, just locked up. I assume it's fine since I doubt I'll use a program that takes up 100% of all my clocks but.

I'll lower the clock though if you think I should.

You're using a program that has a set method of operations as a benchmark. The benchmark shows you instability when working in a stable workload.

When you add random data, i.e. gaming, you're gong to have issues.

I guess I don't realize what stable is then aha I'm new to this.

Lowered it down to 3.8 and it's now actually stable I can do 5+ cinebench tests in a row with no issue

Yes once I managed to do a full Heaven Benchmark on my Maxwell Titan X clocked at 1820mhz, which is insane... but obviously 9/10 times it would just crash on the first 5 seconds, just because it works doesn't mean it is stable, stability means it can function for very long periods of time without any interruption at such clocks [:

I run my R7 1700 at 3.8 GHz 1.275V, I was not able to get it stable at 3.825 GHz or higher even with pushing voltages through the roof. Each chip is different though.

In order to test overclocks I run three multithreaded cinebench, then one singlethreaded cinebench, followed by at least 24 hours of what I intend to run on the system (x265 encoding). If it crashes, it needs more voltage or lower clock.

Haha no worries. To ensure it's stable I'd recommend running either Aida 64 or Asus Realbench for 30 min-1 hr to ensure it's stable.

Lower voltage is always good. See how far you can push the memory, since that seems to make more of a difference on Ryzen than core clock speed.

Yeah but you could OC :D

That IS the OC though, all RAM is 2133 Mhz base but the listed Mhz is the max OC that it is rated for. You can't do any higher in the Bios and trying to force it would probably kill the RAM a lot faster.

Yeah well I'm talking about OCing past it's rated. You could probably try for 3466 or 3600, if you wanted. Unless you up the voltage it shouldn't  make it die much quicker.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
