I'm looking to build a beasty gaming computer by the end of the year for gaming and recording.

This is what I'm hoping to get https://nz.pcpartpicker.com/list/p2YHKZ

Please tell me if you think I should change something. I also haven't selected a monitor yet, If anyone knows of a cheap 2K-4K, 24+ Inch display and blow 4ms response time please tell me!

Are you gonna be recording or streaming? If streaming you should consider Ryzen.

I'd also change the psu to this: http://techworld.co.nz/seasonic-520gb-s12ii-bronze-series-520w-80plus-bronze-p-40965.html

Also I'd recommend you get an SSD.

Are you aware that the GPU and case aren't being counted in the price? And also, don't get the founders edition. You could also get windows from kinguin.net instead.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

For display, I'd check out the Dell S2417G I think (product name is something like that). 24" 1440p 165 hz g sync with 1 ms response time and it generally costs $400 usd or so. Not sure how much it would be in New Zealand.

1.- Wrong ultra-expensive chipset motherboard... Get Z270 to OC your cpu, H270 won't be able to let you do...

2.- Adding a 120/240GB SSD is highly recommended for faster game loadings and less time windows boot.

3.- Don't get Founders Edition graphics cards please, these ones gets pretty hot and very noisy.

4.- NEVER EVER cheap out in your power supply. Some people from getting his power supply dead and cpu up to all whole system to the death (in the worst of the scenarios... (change that power supply at least to a seasonic s12ii 620w)

Remember to quote me (or someone else), otherwise we won't going to recieve your answers...

Yes I do know that the case and gpu are not being counted in the price, I have accommodated for that.

I am also going to get a boot SSD And just recording probably.

Either drop down to a plain 7700 or step up the mobo to a z chipset.  Also get a ssd, even if it's just a small one for the Os it makes a massive difference and it's hard to call a pc without one "beastly".

Yes I will get a boot SSD. How much space does windows usually take?

3. get boot SSD (i forgot how much windows takes up (look it up)) and buy windows from kingwin i got windows 10 pro for $40 totally legit (try not to get OEM)

16gb or so. Though I highly recommend you get a 120gb or 250gb, since the 16, 32, and 64gb ones only cost a little less and you lose a lot of storage as well as performance.

Other things you DEFINITELY SHOULD CHANGE:

-Get a Z270 board (you can't overclock with the board you chose) or get a 7700 and no cooler instead if you don't want to overclock. Going 7700 instead will save at least $100 since you don't need a 212 evo and 7700 is cheaper, but if you want to overclock this board is only $20 more. You can't overclock with the board you chose.

-Don't get a founders edition. It costs more and is worse

-Change the psu. Please. A bad psu could lead to components like the motherboard or hard drives dying earlier than otherwise. Would you rather spend $8 more for the Seasonic psu I listed or $200 for a new mobo? If the Seasonic isn't easy to get, you could look for a Corsair CXM grey sticker PSU or EVGA B2 (NOT B1 or BQ) PSU. Or if you want to be really safe and have modular cables, an EVGA G2 PSU, though they're $60-70 more.

-Get windows from kinguin.net instead

-no need for the wired network adapter. The one on the mobo is just as good.

Ah right ok. In that case for all things holy don't get a tiny SSD like that. They are really poor value for money and often have crappy read/write speeds.

What is you budget ?

$2000NZD Max. Anything lower would be gratefully accepted.

Here's a build I came up with:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: ASRock AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard  ($159.38 @ Ascent Technology)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory  ($217.00 @ 1stWave Technologies)
Storage: Crucial MX300 275GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($143.00 @ 1stWave Technologies)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($111.00 @ 1stWave Technologies)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition Video Card  ($699.00 @ PC Force)
Case: NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($129.95 @ Computer Lounge)
Other: Corsair CX550m PSU ($104.65)
Other: Ryzen 5 1600 ($350.00)
Total: $1913.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-04-09 11:42 NZST+1200

1080 was about $80 outta reach, though the gigabyte one that woulda stuck you with isn't the best.

Probably you should wait for Ryzen 5 reviews to make the final decision but it should be better than an i5.

And then add Windows for around $50 on kinguin and you're all set to go.

As for monitor, this would be my personal pick, though I'm not sure if it's way outta reach. 27" 1440p 165 hz g sync 1 ms though it is $800. The cheapest 1440p monitor start at around $400, FYI.

Boy oh boy New Zealand prices are high though it would probably be $1100-$1200 USD for this which would convert to $1600-$1700 but instead it's $1900 or so.
