Hey,

Want to play DOOM multiplayer with constant 144 FPS, so I'm dropping down some settings from campaign. I'm playing 1920x1080p @ 144Hz. There are so many options of Anti-Aliasing, and I'm wondering what differs all of them, and which effects GPU highest/lowest (I know 8x is effecting hardest, but except that one). The different settings are:

  • FXAA
  • SMAA
  • TAA (1TX)
  • SMAA (1TX)
  • TSSAA (8TX)

Should I put it at FXAA, SMAA, TAA(1TX) or SMAA (1TX), for lowest pressure on GPU? I don't want to turn off AA completely. Thanks in advance

Main:  1650 v2   @ 4,6GHz   -   X79 Deluxe                -   GTX 1080 @ 2000MHz   -   24GB DDR3 @ 2400MHz / CL10

Side:   i7-4790K @ 4,5GHz   -   Maximus 7 Hero        -   GTX 1070 @ 2114MHz    -  16GB DDR3 @ 2666MHz / CL12

fxaa should be the least taxing as it's a post process effect to blur stuff out IIRC

best would just be no AA

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

FXAA is usiually considered the least taxing IIRC but i would go through them all and look at the visual differance and performance differance and pick the one which gives you the best visual quality while still keeping the preformance you need seeing as i dont know the preformance hit from any other then MSAA

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

im getting a constant 144 fps dont even dip 1 fps down its 144 ALL THE TIME on nightmare settings with TSSAA (8TX) at 1440p.

SMAA is a good one to use. It has less preformance hit for Anti-Aliasing.

FXAA is the most less demanding but SMAA is better looking. :)
