Im trying to buy MSI H110M PRO-VH 6TH GEN and a i5 6400 but the processor in out-of-stock and they offered me i5-7400, Any thoughts? I've read I need some bios update but its impossible for me to update my bios because I dont have 6th gen in the first place. I just wanna hear your thoughts about it.

You could hope that they have it flashed with the BIOS version required, but other than that, I'd ask support before I bought one.  The BIOS required for 7th gen CPUs on that board came out Oct. 2016, so it's a matter of if they are flashing that at the factory or not, and if the one you buy is made after that decision.

the cpu upgrade is worth it, but if what you say about needing the firmware update is true it may be completely useless to you   

 

if there was a way to update firmware without having a compatible cpu installed already it'd be an all-go situation, but I just don't personally know how.

contact the store you're buying from and find out if it already has the kabylake bios installed, or if the manufacturing date is from november 2016 or later.

I should probably ask them to flash it for me.

if its a  physical store you can ask them to flash new bios on there for you as alot of them have ways of doing that relatively easy.

True, they'll probably have test CPUs on-hand that they could use for the purpose.
