Hey guys, quick question about water cooling; I've got an Corsair Air 240 case, and I'm wanting to get a new water cooler. Currently, I've got an older H60 by Corsair, and unfortunately this thing is super loud. I'm looking at a couple of new options, but right now I'm leaning towards building my own loop from EKWB. I'd basically take the parts from one of their AIO Kits, buy them seperately, then buy SP Noctua fans to push air. My question is, is it worth it to buy using EKWB, or should I just go with another AIO that doesn't need any assembly?

For customization wise buying seperate parts is the best option as you get to choose everything to fit your system exactly. If you want a base to start with EKWB's kits would be a good start.

Sorry, I should probably rephrase -- would it be fiscally better to buy the parts separately, or all in the same kit?

You can do a quick comparison.

The EK water-cooling kits (the non AIO ones) are literally RETAIL parts.

Pick out the same parts from EK's shop, and compare the cost.

  • Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro Ice
  • 32GB (16GB X2) G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6400
  • Sapphire NITRO+ 6800 XT Special Edition + EKwb Full Cover Block
  • Custom Loop w/ 2x 360mm Radiators
  • WD SN850X + WD SN750 + Samsung 980
  • EVGA P2 850W + Red/White CableMod Cables
  • Lian-Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL

AMD Ryzen 5000 Rig

  • AMD R7-5800X
  • Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AC
  • 32GB (16GB X 2) Crucial Ballistix RGB DDR4-3600
  • Gigabyte Vision RTX 3060 Ti OC
  • EKwb D-RGB 360mm AIO
  • Intel 660p NVMe 1TB + Crucial MX500 1TB + WD Black 1TB HDD

Alright cool, I'll go with EK then. I want to expand later anyways. Thanks for your help!

the Kits and AIO's are two completely seperate products, the AIO's can be expanded and taken apart like a custom watercooling setup but more designed as plug and go intially. The kits are all the components necessary made into a nice package for watercooling the system, and the same as a custom loop.

Additionally. EK is coming out with it's Modular Liquid Cooling line this Quarter(Q2 17)

If you can stand to wait that might be another option for you.

It will be the replacement line for the EK Predator series if you want to look at that and see what to expect.

I waited for those...the wait time is too long for me; took the plunge.

Committed myself into a custom cooling kit.
