I can't find much on touchscreen usage with desktop OS X machines.

Does anyone know if these types of monitors would be compatible with Macintosh?

I know OS X isn't set up for great touchability.  I just want to know if it will work reasonably well (I have apps that work well with touch).

There are no OSX drivers for touch screens so it would have to be something where the mfr made some. I wouldn't waste your time. I have used touchscreens with OSX in the past and it is like you said not designed for it, and it is terrible to use.

If you insist on trying, you can try this article:

Thanks for the info and the insight.  When you used them in the past, was it bad because OS X isn't set up for it or was it bad for more basic reasons such as lag or poor touch resolution/precision?  Because I plan to have an application fullscreen which I already know works decently with touch, so I technically don't care whether apple's UI is laid out for touch, but if you're saying that there was a more basic problem like lag or inaccuracy then I'm concerned.

It was honestly a combination of both. It was a smaller touch screen (about 7" across") but there was no multi touch, there was lag, and just generally not great to use. It was awesome because it was a mac mini hooked up to a touch screen in my car, but wasnt super functional all the time.
