Hey Gang,

I'm looking for some advice here. I'm thinking about doing a new build completely however I feel like this system is plenty fast at the moment and I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle ATM.

My goal is to upgrade the motherboard so that I can add some new features like a  m2 ssd, integrated wifi, and perhaps USB Type C. I'd like to get to M-ITX at some point but I'm not sure if now is the time. I was looking at the ASUS Maximus GENE but they're hard to find and come in Z87 and Z97 flavors...

Here's what I got so far.

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K
  • MB: GIGABYTE Z87MX-D3H
  • RAM: 16GB PC3-14900 DDR3 SDRAM Patriot Memory 1866 CL10 Series
  • GPU(s): 2X EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 in SLI
  • SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
  • PSU: CORSAIR AX850
  • CASE: BitFenix Phenom Micro-ATX
  • Monitor: Dell U3415W (Provided by work) w/ Macbook Pro connected on seperate input.
  • VR: Oculus Rift

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
