I bought a laptop last weekend (Sunday). Its an acer aspire E5-475G-39SA. With 4gb ddr4 ram, intel core i3 7100U, and geforce 940mx.

At first it was running smoothly, but as the days pass by, i noticed that my laptop takes time to open softwares but i didn't mind because i thought it was just the limitation of my ram(?) until today when something happened that bothers me the most. I copy the files (15 GB) from one folder to another to replace the current files at the same time emptying my recycle bin (16 GB). Doing those operations together made my new laptop freeze and lag so i pause the other operation to give way from the other. After emptying the recycle bin. It still lags, as i try to resume the other operation, still it freezes again. So i wait 5 min. After that i decided to unplugged the charger. Making the laptop unfreeze.

After those events. I installed the new update of windows 10 (anniversary) and then played a light game for 20 min. After that, When i was going to shut down my laptop, it doesnt respond whenever i click the shutdown button. It took me 3 times and still no response. Then i fold the laptop and reopen just to test if the problem still persist, instead i got a black screen. So i hold the power button to force shutdown. What do you think? Is it just a ram limitation or a factory defect? I still have my warranty until sunday.

I would return the thing and get something better. How much did you pay for it? Would you be interested in another notebook?

Did you check the cpu, HDD, RAM utilization while it lags? You can do that with the task managers resource manager to isolate the problem or programs like intel extreme tuning utility for the cpu...

I do notice that my HDD is always at peak. My ram usage is between 60-80%. when im did those tasks

You are right that something is not right here. Your laptop should not be so slow even with an HDD.

Though when i game (robocraft), its not slow when i run it. And my fps are at 60 with good settings. I am thinking that it is an OS problem also?

You have not many options in my eyes:

- did you check the manufacturer homepage and download + install the newest drivers?

I have a windows 5 year old laptop with an HDD myself and it can take ~30 min. to install all windows updates.

Fresh windows 10 installation + download newest drivers manually from the manufacturer. I would probably just return if this doesn't fix it.
