Hi guys!

I was wondering what i should focus on when upgrading my current PC set-up in the future. Specs wise it is not bad but just want to have list of things i should focus on.

I will write down my specs so that you guys know what i am rocking at the moment.

GPU: Nvidia GTX 960 gaming (MSI) 4G

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k (Clocked at 4.3 Ghz

RAM: 16 gigs of corsair vengeance LP (running at stock speed) (4 gigs per stick so 4 sticks in total)

Motherboard: MSI gaming 7 z97a

PSU: Corsair RM 750

SSD: Mushkin Chronos (128 gig)

HDD: WD black (1TB)

CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3

Case: Fractal Design Define r5 (windowed)

Peripherals worth mentioning: Corsair Gaming K70 Rapid RGB MX Speed / Logitech MX Master / Corsair VOID Wireless.

I am not noticing any drawbacks from the CPU side since i mostly use my PC for gaming (sometimes i render video projects on it. But my laptop is my main machine for that). Though i see that my GPU is struggling with some recent game titles, Mass Effect: Andromeda is an example.

Thanks in advance!

Your next and only upgrade should probably be your GPU. beyond that maybe your storage capacity if you're feeling limited.... but everything else is still a pretty strong setup.

MAYBE you could upgrade your platform to something more recent to take advantage of NVMe drives, Optane support, Thunderbolt 3 or USB 3.1/C.... buuut thats all kind of not really worth the investment you would need to make in order to get it (for most people anyway).

SO yeah, your GPU is really the only thing that is somewhat out of date... and even then it could still be working fine for your needs.

If you have extra money laying around... maybe a custom water loop after your GPU upgrade?

before spending 1000 euros on waterloop, he should first upgrade everything else.

probably gpu first as it is holding you back the most right now but it also depends on how much money you want to spend

5900X

MSI MEG X570 Unify

32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance

RTX 3080

Dark Base Pro 900

Corsair RM1000i

And maybe wait for Rx 500, this may be something worth waiting and upgrading for, if not, then atleast RX480 will go down a bit.

Im a Nvidia person :P so i will be waiting for the Gtx 11xx / 2xxx series (or whatever they are gonna call it)

They should just name it the GX500 series since AMD seems so fond of stealing other people's naming schemes. Lets see how they like it :P
