Guest Storm10

Any recommendations for 120mm fans that are quiet and good airflow?

Corsair has quiet edition and performance edition fans. I've used dozens of there SP (Static Pressure) and AF (Air Flow) series fans and never had a failure. They have newer models that are rgb capable as well.

i7 10700k @ 5.1Ghz, 1.37v | Asus Z490-E Strix | Asus Rtx 2080ti Strix | 16Gb Trident Z Rgb @ 3600MHz | Samsung 970 Pro | EVGA Supernova G2 850w  | Corsair 500D | Celcius s36 /w ML Pro's

No, what does PWM stand for and what makes it different than non-PWM fans?

PWM means they are a 4pin plug with controllable speed

Fans with adjustable speeds via a 4th pin. Don't bother with non-PWM fans for cooling a personal rig, PWM can help keep your rig quieter at idle and cooler at load

beQuiet Silent Wings 3 are great, so are 2s

Anything Noctua (ugly tho)

Corsair ML's at lower RPM

Most Noiseblockers

Fractal Design Venturi = budget option

Hello there! I do understand LEDs may not be of preference, although I strongly recommend picking up a pair of Auoker White 33 LED Grid 120mm fans.

Review:

Achieving exceptionally heavy duty fan bearings at only £5.66 maximum budget is most clearly doubted by a vast amount of manufacturers. But Auoker didn't think this way. Striving ahead of it's cheaply constructed companions, Auoker succeeds in claiming there promise of a 'Low-Noise Design'. Brilliant lubrication of the Hydraulic Bearings does in practise prevent undesired noise output, whilst allowing a smooth rotation. Furthermore, awesomely impressive illumination of the fan's blades develop evenly over the blades, with no fade towards the central motor.

Included out of some impossible fate in box, all corners are securely dampened of vibration introduction by cleanly cut white rubber anti vibration mounting holes. Backdraft from the blades never is an issue, with channel airflow similar to that of some of Noctua's NF-F12s, thus not compromising on there claim of 'Built-in Wind Blocker Frame'.

Specifications:

Weight: 115g
Fan Size: 120 * 120 * 25mm
Fan Speed: 1200RPM ¡À 10%
Air Volume: 53.02CFM
Air Pressure: 1.073mm-H20
Input Power: 3.6W
Operating Noise: 16bBA
Input Current: 0.3A
Input Voltage: DC12V

3-Pin Fan and 4-Pin Molex connectors for full compatibility.

This forum really confuses me sometimes. For me that is fairly standard sized text, although for others it appears mammoth in sizing? And with the Automatic colour issue, for me it is pure grey tinted white! xD

I made it smaller for you though :3

No problem! Mostly my bad I would think xD I am horrible at writing.

Anyhow, my monitors are both 272 @ 2560 x 1440 resolution each. Browser scaling is I believe 100%. A few inches gap between this text box & the bezels

Have a great day!

This explanation is very weird.

PWM fan will maintain the fan speed even though there are restriction like dust filter or radiator in the flow path. With voltage/non-PWM control, the fan will slow down.

PWM model usually have lower minimum speed than its non-PWM counterpart.

However, both PWM and non-PWM models will have the same cooling performance/air flow if they run at the same speed.

For rear exhaust fan, maybe front intakes as well. Non-PWM fans are perfectly fine.

I understand PWM, although your definition that they will maintain fan speed through a restriction doesn't exactly make sense if I may admit. I do believe no fan is aware of restrictions and/or knowledgably to there CFM ratings/RPM, so any fan would unless manually controlled via external software ect.

Thank you!

Try to put a dust filter in front of a DC fan, the fan speed(rpm) will drop.

I did that awhile back...no difference in RPM when is was on/off it.

As to why would such occur I question, since dust filters do indeed restrict airflow,  thus maybe a degree or so in temperature rise compared to without, so wouldn't the opposite happen if anything? I am rather confused.

Thanks again.

I tested it myself awhile back. I did see drop of rpm, especially if the filter is cogged with dust.

Well, that is no surprise if the fan bearings/motors are clogged with dust! xD Limited movement rotates the blade at a slower RPM, as restriction/frictions are increased because of build up.

Thank you for your explanation! Have an awesome day.

PWM describes how the fans are powered. Whether fan speed can be controlled depends on the header you're powering it from and not the fan itself.

Where are you using the fans?

Where are you shopping/located? Budget?

Every fan is "powered" the same way, with a ground on pin 1 and a positive on pin 2. Pin 3 is the tachometric signal which reports the rpm of the fan. A 3 pin fan can only have it's rpm reduced by reducing the voltage. PWM can reduce the rpm of the fan by rapidly cutting power on and off to the fan to maintain a certain value without dropping down from 12v.

What case are these going into? Color or LED preference? With your location ordering from Newegg.com should be very quick shipping when you have decided on a purchase.

4pin pwm fans have IC's that generate the pwm signal that determine how the power translates into rotation. 3pin fans aren't limited to dc and can be controlled by pwm as well but the header that the fan is plugged into is what determines this pwm signal for power instead of an IC on the fan. Phanteks' PWM Hub is one example of how 3pin fans can be controlled via pwm.

The same pins are used for power but pwm and dc don't power the fan in the same way.

What components are you cooling? Why 120mm fans in a case that supports 140mm's and why such a large case in the first place?
