This might work better since you said video editing > gaming. It depends on how much video editing you are doing. If it's a lot, go with this over the last list. Otherwise the 1080ti is a much better GPU:

@Cunning Death

Ah. Well if this is the case then here is an update to the list I provided earlier:

As you can see, it costs pretty much the same as the original build, but has a 1080ti instead of a 1070

I don't know whether or not M.2 has a higher or lower likelihood of getting damaged... but this is my recomendation:

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This option increases your graphics output by about 70% while increasing the build cost by only about 5.5%. Check this out:

I just noticed you said you were doing video editing, so maybe think about getting 32 GB of ram? That could be a later upgrade, but I've heard adobe premier loves to use all the ram it can find.

This build also happens to maintain the black build aesthetic :).

Your builds all have a fatal flaw. They use cheaper retailers than Amazon.  Only using Amazon will likely increase the prices, going even farther over budget ($1000-1700).

BTW, you don't really need additional fans or thermal paste. The fans that come in cases and thermal paste that comes with coolers is fine.

I'd say Newegg and Amazon are both very reliable. Either would work, but I've never had a problem with a cheap retailer before. Maybe I've been lucky? Dunno, but the only supplier for that specific gtx 1080ti is B&H and the taichi motherboard is only supplied through SuperBiiz.

As for thermal paste and fans, I was trying to keep as many parts as @Cunning Death originally had in his first list... I changed that in the latest build.

I updated the most recent list with amazon as the supplier for as many components as possible (Newegg for the case because I still think they are reliable). You happy?

Also, besides Amazon, who would you consider a reliable retailer?

CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.7 GHz

GPU: XFX GTS RX580 4GB

Cooling: Corsair h100i

Mobo: Asus z97-A

RAM: 4x8 GB 1600 MHz Corsair Vengence

PSU: Corsair HX850

Case: NZXT S340 Elite Tempered glass edition

Display: LG 29UM68-P

Keyboard: Roccat Ryos MK FX RGB

Mouse: Logitech g900 Chaos Spectrum

Headphones: Sennheiser HD6XX

OS: Windows 10 Home

It's got nothing to do with reliability.  I'd get parts from any of those places (except Superbiz). It's shipping to Puerto Rica. Amazon gives free shipping with Prime, but you have to pay on other sites. That's why you see people from outside the 48 states ordering strictly from Amazon. Prices may be cheaper on places like Newegg, but then you add a shit ton for shipping to what might as well be another country.

I didn't realize OP was from Puerto Rico. That makes since I guess, but PCPartPicker factors in shipping costs when deciding on the cheapest option. Does it not recognize international shipping rates?

P.S. The 48 connected states in the US are called the 48 continental states... which is ironic since Alaska (would be 49th continental state) is on the same continent as the other 48, it's just separated by Canada from the rest. Hawaii makes since not being considered continental since it's an island thousands of miles away from the rest of the country.

I knew there was a word for it, but I had been up all night and I couldn't think what it was. ?

Anyway, PC part picker doesn't factor in shipping to Puerto Rico.
