BSOD after fresh install

benga

I did a fresh install of Windows 7 about a week ago and now maybe once a day I get a BSOD.

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

***STOP: 0x0000007A

*** volmgrx.sys

I knew it was going to crash so I started recording and took this screenshot attached.

System:

MSI: G46-970

AMD FX-4100

Samsung EVO 850 500gb

4gb x 2 Corsair Vengence

Nvidia 960

SSD(boot): Samsung Evo 850 500GB

HDD(Storage): WDC 500GB 7200RPM

Windows 7 Pro SP1

No overclock on anything.

I did a Windows Memory Diagnostic and nothing came up. The SSD and GPU is less than a year old. The rest of the computer is probably 3-4 years old.

AFAIK a Kernal_Data_inpage_Error is caused from failing to retrieve data. Whether it be from memory or your drive.

volmgrx.sys is your Volume manager extension driver

my SSD really? I just got this thing. Is there anyway(diagnostics) I can prove it's failing for warranty purposes?

Could this be happening because a secondary drive used for storage is failing instead. An old Seagate 500gb HDD

How do you have your page file setup? Have you moved it onto the 500gb drive?

All the paging file is done on the SSD(primary drive). So I take it that secondary drive cant be the cause of the BSOD :(

I added some crystalDisk Mark if that gives any info.
SSD is boot/primary Drive
HDD is secondary/storage Drive
