Motherboard-memory compatibility issue

Hello everyone, i have a problem and i'm looking for people with similar experiences.

I bought RAM which is on a motherboard's compatability list. They do not work together. The system is unstable and throws errors around all the time. They both work separately. The retailer will not replace them since it's not a RMA/warranty issue. Can anything be done here, are the buyers not protected from this? MSI said they've tested that same memory and that it works with that specific board. So what the hell can i do? It's nobodies fault and i get f'd basically? Try to resell them as used? :'( Has anyone here had a situation like this?

I didn't know FN came out with a new handgun!

Could be a dead stick. The board makers can only test so many sticks for compatibility and, even then, won't be successful every time.

Have you tried the RAM in each slot?

No i mean i've sent the board and the ram to the retailer. They've tested them both and said they work separately but not together. Which i was able to find out by testing myself as well (each stick in each slot, 8tests). I just thought 1 of them was defective. Turns out it's not compatible. But the sticks are on the compatibility list of the board and the manufacturer says they work together. But they don't. And the retailer is sending them back, they won't replace since it's not their problem, the components work fine...just not together... Can i bother MSI about this.(their board) Realistically speaking, i guess i can just expect to say farewell to the money? :D

Contact the RAM manufacturer if the kit was sold in a pair which would indicate that they were tested to work together.

Contact both the motherboard and RAM manufacturers. If they have certified them as working together, then they need to back that claim up.

Have you tried updating the BIOS (or downgrading, even)?  Also, what MoBo/RAM is it?

Everything was tried. I talked to both MSI and Corsair. The board is z270 sli plus. Ram is Corsair Vengeance  LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz CMK16GX4M2B3200C16W

MSI has responded. Corsair support however felt like a random guy on the internet responding to the ticket, vague answers, no real help.

http://prntscr.com/esj75j   MSI's response about the compatibility. In any case, they don't work together, them saying it does won't make it work together. The real concern is how do i get them to do anything about it? Would they even?

Random thought, but have you tried running them in single channel instead of dual channel?  It shouldn't be necessary, but I am curious from a testing standpoint.

Like i said, everything was tried. Each stick was tested in each slot and there were problems. The board was tested with different RAM, the RAM was tested with a different board. Bios was updated, to a version MSI support sent me (unofficial), 3 bios updates total. Cmos was cleared, everything was tried. Retailer tested as well. They are working perfectly but not together

Sorry, I couldn't resist.  Are you sure the RAM is real, and not a knockoff product?

Yes it's real, recognized in multiple software and bios

Was the RAM purchased as a pair? What store? Have you tried giving Corsair some hell on their Twitter or Facebook?

Best I can suggest at this point is either putting pressure on the retailer to exchange them (even if you have to take a restocking fee hit) or barring that to put pressure on MSI, since they listed the RAM as compatible.

Yes it was purchased as a pair at https://www.merlinhardver.hu/
I don't really use Twitter, even still i'm not sure if that would help. I don't want to start a campaign and go back and forth for months, don't have the patience or the nerves. If i made them admit their fault then what? They would contact the store and tell them to send me different new ram? Give me my money back?

I doubt that would do anything. They would just shrug it off. I guess my best bet would be to resell the RAM as used, take a price hit and buy new ones

It has worked for others and it may work for you. Have them send you another set since this one doesn't work properly.

Hmmm. But how would that help since the current ram isn't defective or anything. Just doesn't work with the mobo that i have. Or did you mean send me a different type? How would that work, i bitch on social media and get free ram? I realize i'm coming of as ignorant right now since i have no experience in these situations :D

They would have to confirm with the retailer about the purchase, or ask for a model number? I would send it back to the retailer, they would send new ram to them, retailer would send it to me? Is that how it would go down? Wouldn't suffering transport costs beat the purpose of the whole process? Reselling i would lose like 20-30e

Just tell them the issue and that you've gotten support but nothing has helped so far. Show them the service tickets and ask for their help. If that doesn't work, just sell the RAM and get a new kit unless you can return it.
