Recommended Motherboard?

Go to solution Solved by tlink,

what i always hear people say is that asus has the best bios for overclockers. but in the end it all comes down to preference, aesthetics and features. i heard someone complain about msi their bios once on this forum but i don't know exactly what the problem was, if any. memory i would go 16gb of atleast 3000ghz with cl15 timing to make it balanced, but you can go economy on it without it having a huge impact.

I'm looking to upgrade my processor from an i5 3340 and i'm thinking of going for a i7 7700k and I am looking for motherboard recommendations.

I currently have a Asus Strix GTX 970 in a phantom 530 case. I'd like a motherboard that would allow me to overclock, so z270 chipset.

I was looking at one of these two;

MSI Carbon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MY4L5ED/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3IRU7Q642HWMA

or

Asus Strix z270E https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-1151-STRIX-Z270E-GAMING/dp/B01N0TEB9M/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1491306124&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+motherboard

Mostly all i'm looking for aside from compatibility is an m.2 slot and SLI compatibility.

Oh and RAM recommendations would be appreciated too, mostly just a gaming rig

Edit

There is also this MSI board; https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N5LSIYI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3IRU7Q642HWMA&tag=linustechtips-21&th=1

If you can afford That, Yes, but ram speed doesnt make much of a diffrence above 2000

In CPU-bound situations it makes a serious difference, even 20-30 frames. And for $20 extra it's good value

idk

Never heard of Any situation like That, but if you say so....

It actually does, Watch Dogs 2 is a good example, however the effect above 3000mhz isn't too great
