I'm going to be doing a new build soon, and I wanted to get a fan controller for it. I was thinking of getting the NZXT Sentry Mix 2, but I want to see if anyone else has any better suggestions.

Why do you need a fan controller? Most motherboards come with a decent fan controller built in....

I want an external controller. Plus the mobo i'm getting doesn't have very good controller software

I'd put that money for an external fan controler, into the motherboard...

It's only a $30 controller, plus the mobo i'm getting is a decent one, I Just don't like the software. It's an ASUS MAXIMUS IX HERO

Thermaltake Commander is what I usually use, primarily because it supports both 3 and 4 pin fans. All of the NZXT ones work really well as well, just make sure you pick one that supports the fans you're using. A lot of them don't support PWM, and so would be wasted on 4-pin fans, and on the flip side some only support PWM, and so won't work on 3-pin fans at all, as they don't support voltage regulation.

I don't normally like touchscreen controllers, but this one looks pretty good. I'll have to try it out.

I use it in a lot of build just for its compatibility, and I've never heard anything negative back about the touch screen.

Word of warning though, the molex connector for it is of awful bad quality, fine once you connect it but a pain to get connected in the first place. I've always managed to get it working eventually and have never broken one, but I can see how that might happen.

Yeah, that's mostly what I'm looking for. Compatibility and ease of use.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be sure to be careful with it when putting it in the build.
