80 is normal, The XFX cooler is not the greatest cooler. It won't break anytime soon.

80 is fine ;D DCUİİ is better than XFX coolers so thats why you see better temps on them

Not only is the XFX not the best cooler but the DCU II is pretty much the best one. You're fine though.

Well, when I picked it up in February there was a deal on NCIX that made it a 350$ card, so I guess that's why it was so cheap lol.

Ehh, it's cheap because they bounce prices to sell stock . They don't want to sell all of one card and have a bunch left over of another.

80°C is no problem. Remember that AMD rates their cards for 95°C and my old 5750 is doing fine at that temps :)

80°C for an AMD card is kinda normal, they're good cards but the temps were never so good.

That's the same with their cpu's great price-preformance ratio but they heat up really quick.

Im jelly of you and your 80oC.

Mines run in the 90s under game load and idle in 50s

Why do people dislike XFX? Ive never had any problems with them in the past.

Wow 80C is a little warm, but nothing to be concerned about. I have two 7970 MSi Lightning Editions w/ Twin Frozr IV heat sink and these cards never go above 50C when playing a game. Idle is around the upper 20C's. I've never touched a XFX, EVGA, ASUS, PNY, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Power Color, ect. the only cards I've ever used was a Sapphire 5850, otherwise it's always been MSi for me.

Overclocked and overvolted? I am guessing not...

They come pre-overclocked and I'm assuming not pre-overvolted. I like MSi's heat sinks I think they are some of the best out there.

Yes the lightnings are nice cards. Crank those puppies up to 1300Mhz...

No need, these cards are more than fast enough for 1440p at the moment. I can run Crysis 3 at very high settings with 2xSMAA and get 60+ fps with a ~40fps minimum. I usually run that game with FXAA so I get 60+ fps no matter what happens on the screen. Although I wonder how hard I can push these cards to their limits.

Nice, what are the stock clock speeds?
