Hey, I was removing my motherboard and components ready for my new motherboard tomorrow and it was on my carpet but I always touch the case and ground my self, I'm very gentle with my parts and put them on top of a cardboard box and some in anti static bags but when I removed my CPU I managed to touch the top and bottom of it, I got a cloth later gave it a little wipe gently and put it in a antistatic bag, Do you think it will be ok. Its a Intel 1155 processor and its in a box in a bag atm and my other parts are in the box next to the bag (GPU, RAM etc) do you think it will be ok? I swear I have like OCD. I worry about tiny things like that. It would kill me if I plugged it all in and something wouldn't work, A broken MoBo is bad enough.

Dude, I know how you feel. I built two computers on insanely fluffy carpet. (They were both fine)

Hopefully your components are safe!

CPU: Intel Core i5 2450M @ 2.5Ghz RAM: 8GB GPU: HD Radeon 7470M (Potato) Mobo: No idea, probably a pumpkin.

My computer is a laptop.

BF3 on minimum settings = 25fps @ 720p

The CPU should be fine. Though i would store it in the original packaging instead of a bag with other components.

Computer components are not that fragile. I usually build/rebuild my system on a carpeted area, because it's more convenient for me and keeps my a** warm. Therefore, I can assure you that your processor is safe, don't worry about it.

While its not advisable, its one of those truths of building computers that some people get away with doing all the wrong things without ever breaking a thing in their computer building career, then you have the person who does everything right and a fluke nukes his CPU on his first attempt.

I've never grounded myself, I've done tonnes of work of carpet and I am yet to kill anything (to my knowledge). Maybe I've just been lucky so far.

I'll say this though, it never hurts when you are dealing with high value components to be as careful as possible.
