case for new rig.

should i build my own case to save money on my rig. I know how to use the tools i would need to do it but should i build my own and save money but have not as good of looks or to buy one for more money and get the looks?

A really budget pc is most likely cheaper then going balls to the wall custom made. But it depends on parts. Just a cardboard box could be considered a computer case...

i will be using a rx 480 with a micro atx board and stock cooler

This doesn't change my statement. Cheap cases can be found for about 30-35 euro's, sooo... If you think your parts to build a custom case are cheaper, have fun.

if i built my own case i wouldn't save that much unless i did it open air style and i won't have to worry about having problems i might just wait tell i get some experience with building computers.

You can get a functional case for so cheap and it saves you hours spent building a case. If you're okay with spending a ton of time building a case as a fun project then go for it. You might be able to find a old PC case somewhere locally for very very cheap as well. Just throwing out some ideas. I personally would just buy a new cheap one or just a used one at a PC store or something.

If you're using stock coolers, get yourself a cheap case to go with like Dutch said.

 

Unless you're skilled in fabrication...I wouldn't bother building a case.

the case i would buy is a case by bitfenix nova case is that a good case to get?

@JM21 I agree with your advice. However, I personaly would not want to buy them really cheap cases. They are very weak. They bend alot and have poor fitting parts. I've seen some crappy cases which were put together with some very weak rivits...

 

My current case has been modified alot, but I found it origionaly near a trash can somewhere. It's really strong, and it's made out of thick metal/iron. (with plastic covers over the metal)

Looks like a nice enough case to me, and good for a budget build.

 

Have a look at some YouTube reviews to see how easy it will be to build in. Always do a bit of research and see if it fits your personal needs.

But unless you move your case around all the time, a cheap case is still functionally a case. If its sitting in one spot it doesn't need to withstand extreme torsion or heavy weight. Its 100 times better than nothing, if budget is the issue I would buy what's cheapest while meeting the most basic functional needs the user requires, down the road he/she can upgrade.
