Hello my friends at LTT. I have a problem with my computer. I've used it regularly for a long time and it seemed to work flawlessly. I just restarted my computer and it got stuck at the post screen. I restarted the computer but same results.

Then, i read that clearing the CMOS would help solve the problem. I tried that and then tried to start my computer but all i got was a blank screen, running fans and no beeps.

Graphics card, RAM power supply were tested to be working. I'm confused if it's the motherboard or the PSU that's giving me trouble.

Here the deal, these 1156 motherboards and processors have become a rarity in my area and are impossible to come by.

I want to know what exactly is wrong with it before buying anything else.

Have you tried leaving your computer on for a longer period? I read somewhere that the BIOS might be corrupted/trying to repair itself. I had a problem like that, and it would take up to 30 minutes to get that pc to post. And when this will make your pc post, don't turn it off again. Put it in sleep mode.

Depending on what you were using MBR/EFI, you may have to change settings in the bios to legacy mode support after resetting CMOS. But yes as above, remove the BIOS battery to ensure resetting CMOS, give it at least 10 seconds before replacing the battery back in and turning on the power again.

Yep, done that already, no difference.

then its most likely a motherboard issue, but it could also be a PSU issue.  If the right amount of power is not getting to you mother board it can do some funny crap.

I would try a an new PSU before trying to find a new board or upgrading the system. you can also try booting the system out of the case. some tiem dust can cause issues on the back of your motherboard.

I've done all that. Used a friend's PSU, same result.
