Kaby Lake X, what happened to Coffee Lake ?

were seing rumors of kaby lake x but between kaby lake and cannon lake there was supposed to be coffee lake.

Will be released later, as the mainstream architecture

We'll know about it when those products actually release (or not). Until then, though, just chill, we ain't getting any info on it.

My understanding is that Kaby Lake-X is the rumored successor to Broadwell-E in the HEDT lineup. They're still skipping some generations (Skylake-X?) but it sounds like they're just trying to get their naming more consistent between high-end and mainstream products. Cannon Lake/Coffee Lake/whatever is probably still going to be the next generation after LGA-1150 Kaby Lake.

 

Edit: Yeah, Coffee Lake is apparently going to be a "U"-series of low-power or laptop chips. I think Cannon Lake is the next full-TDP/desktop generation after Kaby.
