Window's 10 worth upgrading to?

Just now, Leot said:

I'm thinking about upgrading from windows 7 to 10 but I'm not sure on what the current state is for W10. Any advice?

In my personal opinion, Windows 10 is better than 7 and 8. Many people are concerned with the amount of monitoring that Microsoft does, but i personally don't care as all of the data is anonymous anyways.

How so? What are the advantage of upgrading to W10 for gaming and PC performance?

The amount of monitoring they do is your processing power. Even if you don't care that they are monitoring you, their bullshit is bogging down your computer.

Not really. They log basic usage, that's all. For example, perhaps they monitor which browser is most used by a user. It would require next to no processing power to measure this, and they would gain useful information.

Not if you're in the US.

They're working with the NSA and collecting much more than just which browser you're using.

You realize you can't end a "task" that's literally meant to spy on you right?

Windows 10 is really just Windows NSA.0

:| I hate to break this to you, but Microsoft and the NSA really don't care about you or me. Sure, they collect lots of data, but this gets analyzed by computers for marketing purposes and NSA data gets analyzed to search for threats. There isnt a Microsoft Employee who just sits at his desk all day watching what you do on your computer; the data gets collected by computers, analyzed by computers, and is most commonly used as bulk data (ie 60% of users do XXXX). You can read all about this in Microsoft's Privacy Statement. To be fair, just about everything you do on your computer is monitored and analyzed. However, much of this data is highly protected, anonymous, and never gets seen by human eyes.

If you are really concerned about your personal data being collected, throw out your computer, phone, credit cards, car, and live out of a tent in the jungle.

You are completely ignoring what I'm saying.

But to counter your point, Windows 10 leaves a backdoor that basically leaks your information constantly. The NSA or whoever can take this information.

What I'm saying is, it's bogging down your computer. If they weren't constantly sending out data from your machine it wouldn't eat up resources.

Do you have proof of this serious claims? 'cause if you have, it sure be presented, because I can assure you, you'll have this mass exodus of the OS by every company, and government entity worldwide, and users. So far, I am seeing more and more countries and companies testing, validating its security, and upgrading to Windows 10.

Windows 10 has a large amount of welcomed changes over Windows 7, especially that you have Windows 8 added to it. And the coming up Creators Update brings further improvements and features. The update is coming up on April 11. You can read some of its new features here:

Also, don't think I don't know how the NSA has an information overload and can't realistically process it all. That's not the issue with privacy however. The issue with governments having access to our information is that individuals have easier access to it as well. It's naïve to think that anyone being able to know private sensitive information about you is in any way secure.

Governments try to collect data, individuals attack other individuals. It's more personalized, even if they select their victim at random.

Fancy wall of links. But all you posted are speculative work, known and solved issues, and the forced update has nothing to do with the topic  at hand, and it known. Too many people where always refusing any OS update, not even a Service Pack, with the idea of: "It works, don't touch". Which leads to serious security issues. Many of these week system are compromised with a security issue something that has been solved a while ago, turning these computers into zombies. These computers are remotely controlled to execute variety of attack, protecting the attackers. We are talking about launching DDOS attacks or compromising the security of an establishment, all without the owner of the system be unaware of anything. It is critical to keep your system updated.

Microsoft follows the law, like any other company. If a valid warrant is presented, the company has no choice to swiftly comply, else they'll be prosecuted for obstructing of justice. Any company, needs to comply to such demand. Each country has different laws, and a multi-national needs to comply to each country law. Google, Microsoft, Apple and many other companies have said that many security issues discovered due to NSA infiltrating their company and created the and other means, have been fixed (assuming you updated your software).

It doesn't matter whether they are forced to put not (they're not).

Anyone can open a back door with NSA's name, that's a huge security flaw.

Nothing is speculative, nothing was fixed (most of the time it was hidden). Forced updates do have to do with the topic at hand. It's incredibly inconvenient and can deter OP from installing Windows 10.

No, that is very incorrect, many people didn't update because it was inconvenient. That doesn't make it right to force it.

There are security flaws in Windows, but they do not allow a RAT if the user doesn't go somewhere fishy.

You are talking about botnets, and botnets (surprise surprise) are a result of intentional Windows backdoors.

And probably the most important thing, which kinda pisses me off, you can't just write off all those links as a "fancy wall of links". It's a serious security and privacy issue that Microsoft willingly lets through.

Both my parents work for Microsoft, and both of them hate the direction Windows is going and can attest to the various flaws that are intentionally left in.

Don't talk about stale memes.
