hi guys I need help picking a motherboard I'm trying to build my first system and don't know much about motherboards specifically they're pretty much the only component that has confused me so far. i also don't want a bunch of features i don't need like dvi.I need 2280m.2 slots, lan and wifi on board hdmi usb 2.0,3.0,3.1a and maybe type c ddr4 and audio in and out for mics/speakers. any helpful insight or information to help me buy not way to much or not enough of a motherboard is appreciated. these are the two boards i have picked out https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Maximus-IX-LGA1151-Motherboard/dp/B01NBHXSP6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490347725&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+maximus+ix+hero

Neither of those boards have WIFI. If you need a wifi capable board, you will need to either buy an expansion PCI card or build a Mini ITX form factor. 

 

Both of those boards are great. I love the black/white look of the MSI SLI board, and I am partial a bit to MSI as I have built with their motherboard exclusively for 10+ years now. 

 

I think the Asus board has slightly better rear I/O.

 

You honestly cant go wrong with either board, but the MSI board is 100$ cheaper.

are you good with overclocking msi. I cant get the hang of my z77 mpower with an i7 3770k. I cant acsess the core multiplier.

But droidbot had some good suhhestions.

This should be what your BIOS looks like. Where it says Adjust CPU Ratio, that should be what you need to adjust. Just mouse over it and hit the + key on your keypad or just type in the value you want to enter.
