Hello, im building a pc today and before i put anything into the case i assembled it all outside of the case. The computer succesfully posted to the display. After putting it all into the case powering everything on, then waiting for it to output nothing. All fans, gfx card, motherboard everything light up, but nothing goes out to the display. Im using the corsair H80i V2 for the cpu cooler if that helps at all. Im not sure whats going on and i need advice asap. The display is fine, swapped hdmi cords, everything. Needs some advice

short?

did you install the standoff's? did you install the I/O shield? does everything line up?

did you plug the power into the board up by the cpu? ( 4/8pin )

standoffs were pre installed, io shield is in, everything lines up. Yes, it was tight but the cpu does have power

OK, care to link to a partpicker list, or list the other details of your PC... it's a guessing game if not.

But from info given, you must have done soemthing different when installing into the case, or the CPU cooler isn't attached properly... IF the display isn't the problem. Clear CMOS and try again.

Ouch!, hope everything is OK... this is why I keep trying to remind people that it's not a race when building a system, better to check everything twice if needed... and if still unsure check it again. I double check my stuff all the time and have been building PCs for better part of 20 years now. Yes, there are times when it's really easy, but that one time when you're not focused is the one that's gonna cost you, hopefully not too big though.

OP, let us know how you get on, if unsure post some pics and we'll try to help you if we can.

After repositioning the CPU in the socket, i checked the pins before hand. All was good. I found my issue was with the H80i V2 not being screwed down evenly with the amd bracket. Its not as symmetrical the intel one and must have done some jaunty things. I found the FX-8320 Chip fits perfectly fine within the AM3 socket but is a little loose and has some play. But not enough to be worried about. Must be a mobo issue. After reattaching the H80i, Making sure all pins were connected i booted up successfully into the bios. 5 Hours later. It was worth it.

I want to thank everyone in this thread, with their quick response time to a no brainer issue i had.
All is well and will be making a completed build on Pcpartpicker with pictures today.
Thanks again.

you're not the first person to over look that.

Agreed, I have seen this a few times, not by myself though, thankfully. It's easily done and you shouldn't feel ashamed by it or anything, computer parts are fragile in some areas and it's a fine line between putting the correct amount of torque on screwing down, and stripping the thread (or worse). I consistently strip threads on motherboard screws, they are the bane of my existence, lol... I have gotten to the stage where I have started using stand-offs within stand-offs to hold the motherboards down on my own builds as they have IMO tougher threads, plus I can then use a socket wrench instead of a screwdriver :D

I still use the standard stand-offs and screws on builds for customers though.
