I recently received a h55 mobo with a i3 540 I went to see if it boots and it booted linux mint fine. When i tried to boot windows 10 it wouldn't boot it would freze i tried this on 2 ssd's and a hdd  i also tried these drives on a different machine. I then thought it had to do with the mobo not supporting win 10 so i tried win 7 put that on a ssd and hdd they both boot but it freezez like win 10 on the loading screen any ideas

It's because you're trying to boot an installation of Windows that was made using another system. This rarely works. You'll have to do a clean install of Windows. Linux isn't as picky, that's why you can literally hand out HDDs with Linux images and they'll boot fine on any supported machine.
