Does an i7-7700k work with my ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard?

Would an Intel i7-7700k fit with my ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming mobo? Or does it only go up to 6th gen?

Yea as long as you have the most up to date bios version for it.

you need to have the lastest bios version and you can only update the bios with an 6th gen cpu

Yes, update your BIOS to the latest version and you are good to go.
