$800 Workstation PC Planning

My dad has a Mac that he uses for graphic work and video editing. I have been trying to help him get into PC's and as you guys probably know Mac's aren't *ahem* the best value. His Mac Pro was about $800 and I'd like the build him a pc for his editing work and maybe some light gaming that is about that same price to show him how cool and fun this whole thing is. I really don't know where to start. I was thinking the new Ryzen could be a good choice for the processor but as this is an $800 build I don't know. I was wondering if anyone had a little bit of time to show me something (preferably on pcpartpicker) that is around that $800 price range. It doesn't have to be perfect as I don't even know if he is going to go through with this. Thanks in advance!

This is a lot more workstation than it is gaming, but it can still do every game in 1080p, just gotta tweak settings. Also you should OC the CPU and GPU

it's a pretty limited budget.

if you want to spend $150 on RAM for a workstation, feel free, but then you can't get a Ryzen, and then have to get a quad-core, and then have way worse performance all around.

it can go as high as you can go with 4 DIMM slots. so 64GB is no problem.

We really need to know what programs he is using. Just because his computer is a "workstation" does not mean his programs are heavily multi-threaded. Yes this can be implied with workstation applications but not always.
