I was planning to buy Sennheiser HD 1 Wireless (formerly Momentum) Over-Ear headphones and I was thinking of other alternatives that has the same functionality and same or lesser in price point. The price of HD 1 is $499.95 and it can be wireless and wired.

What's the use case?

Like if you're planning on streaming music while on a walk or anything like that, you're wasting your money.

That's why I'm asking for alternatives. I know nothing about audiophile grade headphones and I'm asking you guys for some alternatives.

But what are you using it for?

For example streaming music through things like Spotify will not sound improved through more expensive headphones. The music is compressed and is not lossless.

I don't know what else you need high quality headphones for if its not sound engineering or listening to very FLAC music.

If you don't listen to lossless music and are just looking for good headphones for pretty much anything, M50X is perfect: https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR86/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490112004&sr=1-3&keywords=m50x

If you truly want audiophile headphones and you actually have files that are capable of utlizing the full capabilities of high end headphones, get these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013TLYRC8/?tag=fin040-head-phones_dd-20 better range, and lower THD (which is good) than the $500 ones you linked.

If you're talking about not lossless music like illegally downloaded music from torrent sites, then it is. I'm gonna listen to it thru my phone and my PC.

Wait... why is the FBI here?

No.

Lossless audio  is audio that is compressed to preserve all the data in the song. What you usually hear is compressed 256 kbps audio, which like I said would sound exactly the same in a $60 pair as it would in a $5000 pair. (assuming the exact same sound signature)

It sounds to me that's exactly the case, you listen to compressed audio and not lossless. To get lossless in fact you either need to buy music from the artist that is specifically labelled lossless or FLAC, or pirate it specifically called lossless or FLAC, or use a streaming service like http://tidal.com/ to stream lossless music (however you need to pay more than the base for that functionality.)

You can tell the difference from a $20 pair and a $150 (I'm talking about lossless only of course), but the more money you spend the less difference you will hear. For example $150 and $500 will probably not sound too much more different to you.

Go to a guitar shop, or some other shop with headphones and ask if you can try them out with some lossless music, bring it with you in case they don't have any. See the difference for yourself.

So something like the B&W P7 wireless, SONY MDR-100ABN, MARSHALL MID, MARSHALL MAJOR II BLUETOOTH. I don't know if they work without any charge, but you can use them wired.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

depends on your taste, the P7 will most likely have the best audio quality, but also a very relaxed sound with a relaxed and smooth treble response and elevated bass, while the rest I dunno just found them on a local hi-fi stores website.

Well, it is under my budget so I'll try to find it here in our country but I know it will be a hard time.

There's also those V-Moda Crossfade wireless headphones if OP is into that sound.

and very incorrect. There will still be a difference (a big one) between $60 and $5000 with lossy music.

Considering OP doesn't really listen to audio that justifies such a price tag, I think for all intents and purposes that the difference he does hear is not worth the money he spends achieving that difference

Unless he becomes an audiophile, he will regret the difference he buys.

Then there's also the question of durability. I would never get really expensive headphones to wear in public, I still splurge a bit and get budget headphones (e.g. Soundmagic E10s). Because if they break I will know I didn't just lose $400.

He also wants wireless headphones instead of wired, meaning he's willing to sacrifice audio quality consistency for portability.

I personally think he should just get budget headphones, see if it's sufficient for him and if  he wants to spend the extra money for the difference he gets. An even better idea would be to go to a guitar shop and test them out.

I DO NOT want pure wireless headphones. What I want is a wireless headphone that CAN BE USED as a wired headphone.

I am new to this that is why I'm asking for help and advice from anyone that has knowledge about this.

Doesn't matter if it has a detachable cable, which by the way the M50x I originally showed you has.

If you use headphones wirelessly the sound quality can degrade. It's not to the point of being worse sound quality, just it'll sound a bit worse for short periods of time depending on your connection.

Depending on the headphones he has now he'll get a bigger improvement to audio with better headphones than lossless music.

Headphones with similar features

Sennheiser HD 4.40 "Accurate and clean, now bassy is neutral...the highs does have roll-off" -Jimsreviewroom
Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77hDcT_gSZ8)

V-Moda Crossfade Wireless "A highly durable, collapsible portable, perfect for bassheads. Bass extends deep and is well-controlled, making it a good match for Hip-hop, Rap, and Electronic." -https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/531248-the-audio-boards-recommended-gear/

That's not what I was saying at all, what I was saying that the difference between the M50x headphones, and the headphones in his price range will not have enough of a quality difference to justify spending that much based on his experience with audio.

He can totally go for more expensive headphones, but he has no reason to. $100 will be more than enough for him.
