Taking too long to load

When I try to go to a website, chrome says "(website) took too long to respond". Any suggestions?

Use Firefox

Check your internet and maybe reinstall your browser. Any others doing this?

Are you using a proxy or VPN, and is there a web blocking service of any kind installed on your computer? What about the network?

I've tried Firefox, if does the same thing. I have a Ethernet connection and the only application I think could be causing this is avast and I've checked that.

Also it's proxy and there is a connection from what I see
