Stick my plan to upgrade to an i5 or go with ryzen 5? Workload includes gaming, encoding, 3d print slicing, and benchmarks

I would say Ryzen 5 (The 6 Core, 12 Thread variant) for AMD side, as encoding and 3D print slicing likes more cores and threads instead of pure clockspeed. However, the i5 7600K which I have performs extremely well. You cannot go wrong with either, but going with Intel gives you higher clockspeeds which may help in gaming and benchmarks (other times more cores do better in benchmarking) and other features like Thunderbolt 3 (and Thunderbolt 3 expansion cards), Intel Optane SSD technology etc... It is really up to you.

I thought I had some money... Oh wait... I spent it all ;(
