not always, pushes the VRMs but you can use >95w tdp cpus in most of these mobos

 

nothing on the delidded database, but g43 mobos are rare - only one tested was in a dell machine which worked with 125w tdp xeons fine

just because one can do something doesn't mean you should. if the board wasn't designed to take 125w tdp xeons then i wouldn't recommend putting one in that board.

eh, it's worked for a lot of people for a lot of years with cheap and high end boards alike.

the problem is that almost all components are slightly overengineered to ensure that when something weird happens that isn't predicted the hardware doesn't just up and fail. now if you go and put a higher tdp chip in a motherboard design for lower tdp chips you could be fine but if something out of the ordinary happens then you wont have any of that safety net that was part of the design.
