we need more information than that. what are you going to be using this computer for? what is the primary focus and what type of experiences do you want out of it?

I would be mostly looking for gaming/ light photo editing and media consumption

That's seems like a pretty great build!

Also, is there any specific reason for going with Xeon or an i5 or even the upcoming RYZEN 5?

Also, I found this PSU which seems pretty good after the MIR

i mean the main advantage of the xeon build is that it is eccentrically an i7 because it is a quad core with hyper threading.

which psu? i can't access the page. the xeon is basically an i7 4770 clocked 100mhz lower, still a pretty good cpu that won't bottleneck in games while an i5 will struggle at 1080p 144hz with a gtx 1070. if you can though, wait for the 1600/1500x and see how they perform before buying the parts.

I'll probably go for the R5 1600, coz if you can believe anything from the benchmarks given by AMD, the 1600X performs 70% better than the 7600k, so I expect the 1600 (6core, 12 thread)to be equal to , if not slightly better than 7600k, and it includes a cooler

the 70% better is only on cinebench, doesn't mean it's better for gaming. wait for 3rd party reviewers first, then look at gaming reviews from them. yeah that's a pretty good psu, go ahead.

s12G is a solid PSU, but so is CXM. and CXM is cheaper. and still very similar quality, just less efficient.

idk

in what sense does it outperform the i5 7600k? in gaming it probably won't but in other aspects that use multithreaded performance well like video editing and what have you it probably will. most likely the i5 will still beat the 1600 in gaming.

Yeah, I'll probably wait for the reviews to come out and then decide

Yeah, but I think the $6 increase can justify the gold efficiency

The benchmarks were for Cinebench, so yeah for gaming results I'd better wait for the reviews

based on the r7 1700 reviews you can basically see that the overclocked r7 chips are about on par in 1080p gaming with a k series i5
