MSI Laptop generation

I have been reseacrhing for a long time and it seems i am still not decided, have these options, since i live on an island i have a very limited variety to choose from.

(all can be found: http://www.scanmalta.com/scanshop/gaming/laptops.html)

I am not buying any laptops online since i'd have to deal with a lot of shipping cost and i will not be able to pay monthly.

MSI GE72 7RE Apache Pro 17.3"  €1,530.00

  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ 2.8 GHz
  • 16GB DDR4 2133MHz
  • 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD
  • 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti

Weaker 1050ti card but a little bit better cpu.

MSI GE62VR Apache Pro 15.6"  €1,611.00

  • Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.8 GHz
  • 8GB DDR4 2400MHz
  • 1TB HDD +128GB SSD
  • 3GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060

Gtx 1060 but with 3gb vram. 8gb ram might not be so future proof.

Any suggestions ?

Asus ROG Strix GL702VM 17.3"  €1,665.00

  • Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.6 GHz
  • 16GB DDR4 2133MHz
  • 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD
  • 6 GB Nvidia GTX1060

Best specs overall but it has problem with cooling. Alot of people complain it overheats which make it throttle and reduces it's life span.

Any suggestions ?

Do you feel comfortable re-pasting and undervolting?  That solves most laptop thermal issues and you lose no performance

I don't mind undervolting but repasting is a little too much for me considering i never fiddle around with laptops and such

In that case I would still consider strongly the GL702VM.  It will be outperforming the other two for a long time if you dust regularly and undervolt.  BTW, skylake undervolts really, really low, 150mV vs kaby lakes 100mV

i'm not so sure though since that was the least i was considering. Although it does have better specs it doesn't have some features of the msi like Cooler boost, rgb backlit keyboards and the shift modes. I am leaning towards the msi since my brother has an msi ge62 2qf with a 970m 3gb , and it performs wonderfully.

Those are all rather gimmicky.

What is cooler boost?

I do love me some RGB and ASUS needs to get on board with that.

Also, every brand has their own version of shift mode.

Cooler boost basically boosts both the fans up to their max with just a press of a button. I don't have any experience with asus strix laptops, and seeing posts like this https://rog.asus.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-88828.html discourage me, even considering i live in a hot country.

If i were to go for an msi
what would you recommend ?

A 1050ti with i7 7700HQ

or

A 1060 3gb with i7 6700HQ ?

Notorious sound issues, otherwise a good laptop

MSI GE62VR Apache Pro 15.6"  €1,611.00

Generally overpriced and gets 3-3.5 star reviews

Asus ROG Strix GL702VM 17.3"  €1,665.00

Can have heat issues but always get 4 stars and up

Don't get the GE62VR, it seems to get a lot of poor reviews.  Also, the other 2 options are so  much better value propositions I wouldn't take it.

I strongly recommend the Asus, for an extra 135 It'll save you from needing to upgrade for 1-2 years longer than the 1050 ti.

If thats all you plan on playing for some time go with the 1050 ti.  HOWEVER, if you plan on playing BF1 or any AAA games in future you'll want the 1060

No problem, while I recommend the ASUS that 1050 ti will serve your needs admirably.  It just burns me to see how overpriced it is compared to the 1060 6gb

If you pay monthly you usually need to pay a high interest

@JustARandomDude if you need to pay for the laptop monthly I would advise you skip buying it all together. get something WAY cheaper like a i5 + 1050ti dell 7567 and live with that. It's just better financial management. The money you save can be put to far better use in investments, stocks or etfs.

Laptop Main

(Retired) Zbook 15: i7-6820HQ, M2000M, 32gb, 512gb SSD + 2tb HDD, 4k Dreamcolor

(Retired) Alienware 15 R3: i7-6820HK, GTX1070, 16gb, 512 SSD + 1tb HDD, 1080p

(Retired) T560: i7-6600U, HD520, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1620p

(Retired) P650RS: i7-6820HK, 1070, 16gb, 512gb + 1tb HDD, 4k Samsung PLS

(Retired) MBP 2012 Retina: i7-3820QM, GT650M, 16gb, 512gb SSD, 1800p

well considering i'm just a student i don't have a lot of things to aim for and a laptop is just better since i can give my old one to my dad and he will pay most of my monthly installments XP I still have to stay in the 1400-1600 range though

How much EXTRA are you paying because of the installments? And like i said, you should probably pick up the Dell 7567 instead anyways.
