So i have 2 Titans running in my gaming rig. I bought them because i run a 5760x1080 setup and thought i would benefit from the 6gb of VRAM for the high resolution. So far only a few games have gone over 4gbs of use when playing so im not entirely convinced it would continue to do as much as i thought it would from the get go. I have been folding on the Tech Tips team for a little now and never thought about how the double precision calculations would help. I have since enabled it on both Titans and now make around 107,000 ppd. I love it and would like it to continue but i was also wanting to see if i would be able to get someone to buy me 2 780ti's and swap with them, someone who needs the VRAM and Double precision calculations more then me. I am also thinking about getting rid of my 3 Asus MX239H for a single 2560x1440p monitor. Does anyone want to put in some input here? Id love to hear some ideas from you guys.

If you can sell titans for good price then sell them, but i would not sell them yet, you should wait for maxewell and buy 880's.

I would keep the titans because you already have them. I would keep 3 monitors over 1 because it gives you more space to work, I like multi-monitor setup better

Keep the Titans. Even though those titans don't use all the VRAM now that does not mean games wont in the future. But also you would be paying of money for a negligible performance boost with the 780ti and I doubt you will get much more from maxwell (however this remains to be seen).

You will get more ppd from your Titans using the advanced flag (or the beta flag, but use this one at your own risk), this is because the core 17 wu's. Just for an example I installed my second GTX 780 a few days ago, and I'm getting 300.000 ppd with them combined, both cards at 1150mhz. You should be getting this kind of performance out of your Titans. I don't even bother to fold with my CPU, it just hurts the ppd of my cards and produce 15.000 ppd. So I just deleted the cpu slot.

Enough with Maxwell, they'll be re-branded 700 series but cheaper. GTX 860 will have the performance of 770. GTX 870 will have the power of a 780.........just stupid shit like that. I want new cards, not re-branded shit.

The 800 series will not be a re-branded 700 series. The 800 series will be using the new Maxwell architecture whereas 600/700 series was using the Kepler architecture. If you want to know a bit more about it just have a quick read of the Wikipedia page or use Google to find more information.

They will be 20nm so they aren't going to be rebranded 700 cards at all.

To answer theop question i think 780ti would be better at folding than the titan because it has more cores and they are clocked faster. If you've already got titans and also plays games with 3 monitors, you're probably better off sticking with the titans because the vram will come in handy. Also when you sell them you will probably make quite a big loss, so its not really worthwhile for now.

Your profile pic is matches the description of when you saw a good deal.

This is why I hate computers so much. You wait for the 800series, 1 month later the 900series comes out. Your just a rat in a maze trying to find that tasty bit of cheese, only to get there and find out its about 10 months old, yet your brain keeps telling you it looks so good.

you want something good you don't have to have the newest, just because something better is released doesn't mean what you have is bad, you just need something sufficient for your needs, so i very much disagree.

You've missed what I'm trying to express. Im saying that you upgrade and spend good money and are told that its the greatest and the best, then a month later they release newer hardware. Its not that the product isn't sufficient, but rather your not getting your due monies worth at buying the product. Its a constant revolving wheel. Your led to believe subconsciously that your going to have the best for a long time, due to the wording in there commercial content. Its the same with any product, but the video card industry and particularly Nvidia Corp, seems to accelerate that process alot more. In a way, its called Planned Obsolescence.

you are still getting exactly what you paid for, wether you feel cheated or not is irrelevant, you got the performance you wanted for the money you paid at that time, later is later and now is now, and ofcourse it's "Planned Obsolescence" these products are in the making for a long time before you even hear of them.

let's end it here and not drive the entire thread off topic.

Keep the Titans until the Maxwell 8xx series comes out. Will the next top-end card be called Zeus? Or what? Possibilities...

Cartdog is right though. Nvidia sold this card as the most powerful card that would be commercially available for a long time, but they couldn't stand the R9 290X to be so close to their 780 so they threw us the only non maxwell chip they have left which is the fully unlocked GK110.

Bottom line is stick with those Titans, They will last you years.
