windows 10 opinions

I love Windows 10, feels right at home with me. Get that 8.1 garbage out and switch to 10.

10 is great , you just gotta accept the fact that theres

• forced updates 
• spying 
• worse performance than Windows 7
• may break compatibility with some of your hardware because whoops

i use the enterprise version for when i need to for work. for the reasons mentioned above is why i use linux. Before you switch do some research if your hardware has win 10 drivers especially if its a laptop

I only use windows 10 because linux dont have a great game support

I fcuking hate it... but, I was forced into it from Windows 7 and never actually experienced Windows 8.

 

It's the most intrusive, annoying, buggy and broken POS I've ever had the misfortune of using and if they hadn't deliberately sabotaged Windows 7, I'd happily switch back in a hearthbeat.

 

If I was more software literate, I'd love to try Linux but I have enough problems getting Windows to work so I reckon Linux would mean the end of what little sanity I have left.

 

TL;DR Upgrade or do not, Microsoft will still find some way to rectally violate you in the end... they always find a way.

8.1 is still the best Windows OS in my mind.

 

10 is good as well for multi-monitor and touch screen.

Just one little note, if you get the Pro version you can actually disable the "forced updates" and choose the good old "notify me but don't download" option.

I rather have pirates then Microsoft getting into my pc. Even if you consider the fact that you have to pay microsoft to go and spy on you.

Windows 8.1 with a third party start menu could be the "best", true (well unless you want the new multi-monitor features). But on the other hand you can tailor Win 10 to be pretty much like 8.1 and also rest assured that you get all the future goodies like DX12 and the kernel updates under the hood. If they also plan to keep the "10" for longer than usual, I think people will eventually move to it anyway.

There's also a registry hack for the same thing, but using gpedit is neater

If I can't find it on the servers... we'll just set up a wsus server. Last thing I'm doing is prodding around the registry on a production server lol

Yeah and you'll have to be documenting registry edits which gets pretty messy pretty fast hehe

Yup and I hate messing with live stuff so wsus would be a cleaner approach to that since the gpo's are a lot simpler to manipulate

tbf dude, I wouldn't completely stop them, just stop the service on startup as they need the updates...

I'm not stopping them.. stopping them from restarting my pc and automatically installing updates that may have issues.
